Entrepreneurs running small businesses are essential to the economies of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. I want to see people starting up their own businesses encouraged to get going and given the advice that they need to employ local people, bring prosperity to our area and help boost the sense of wellbeing that comes from living in a vibrant community. That is why I was delighted to propose the Vote of Thanks to the main speaker - Geoff Thompson, former High Sheriff of Rutland - at the Geoffrey Pointon Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, held at the Falcon Hotel in Uppingham.
